National has presented here stationary engineering articles that promote our Mission at NASOE to advance safety and energy conservation through professional advancement in licensure. If you have an article that you believe would benefit our audience please contact us.

Here is a great article by Richard Bullard, CEM who is a Power Generation Consultant from Bullard Industrial Technolgies. He has an extensive amount of experience and knowledge with steam turbines and gas turbines including boilers and is sharing his experence on steam turbine basics with you! As always, we hope to see more of these fine articles.

Here is a great article by Kurt Knitter who is a Power Generation Consultant from Eighth Street Services LLC. He has a significant amount of experience and knowledge with refractory failure maintenance issues encountered in operating circulating fluidized bed boilers and is sharing a few pointers with you! We hope to see more of these fine articles.

Practically every industry, world-wide, has an air compressor from production machinery to large coal fired power plants for soot blowing to pneumatic controls for HVAC systems in large buildings. This article gives a overview of the three basic designs of air compressors.

This articles gives example to the benefits to using relatively low pressure steam with the application of a steam turbine, can be less costly to operate than electric motors.

The article was published in Combined Cycle Journal and is a great example of a cogeneration plant being used to burn fossil fuels as well as “green” fuels with high-reliability.

A well written topic on the duties of being a Facilities Engineer with energy conservation in mind where a few BTU per pound mass can add up.

This is titled "PROPER CARE AND FEEDING OF YOUR DEAERATING FEEDWATER HEATER," and gives a excellent overview of the deaerating feedwater heater, which is one of the most important components of the steam generation cycle
in a boiler plant.

Free cooling is an alternative energy efficient means to provide chilled process
and/or comfort cooling water for industrial & commercial building applications.
This is an excellent short article on what free cooling is all about. A must read!
